P540H | THE SHINKI HORSEHIDE DELIVERY JACKET
When there's no need to rush.
Early morning in the Lower East Side (not far from where Irving and Jack Schott opened its doors in 1913), streets haven't quite awakened yet.
Stepping out for a cup of coffee, the only sound that closed shop gates make are subtle rattles from the wind. The sidewalks are open and empty. The city feels like it's taking a breath before the day starts. For a few minutes, there's room to walk and no need to rush.
THE RHYTHM OF THE ROUTINE
The P540H comes from that same kind of space - taking a step back and embracing the process, and letting things fall into place. We brewed up this delivery jacket silhouette last year with the SP540, drawing from square-pocket styles dating back to the 1950s when drivers needed something that was practical and professional, celebrating a natural shorter length at the hip. 70 years later, we gave it new leather and hardware worth coming back for.
Revered Shinki Hikaku horsehide is tanned slowly over the course of months, letting the leather take on its character without forcing it. The finished product is a unique finish that is immediately renown to the 71 year old tannery.
These pieces are also homages to a century of history that preceeded them. To add our touch, we figured now was the best time to put our deadstock of Talon hardware to use - a stock that's sat in our factory for over 20 years.
JOIN THE FAMILY
Compared to its predecessor, the P540H carries the classic Shinki horsehide sheen; a grain-like gloss that is pronounced but reserved. It's heavier weight and leather make for a firmer fit at first, but sets the stage for a beautiful break-in period.
By the time that coffee's finished and the city's awake, the jacket will have already settled in, creating it's own look unique to the wearer.
